Associate Professor at Penn State
Katsuhiko Muramoto is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, The Pennsylvania State University. He is one of the founding members of the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture Immersive Environments Lab, which focuses on the integration of immersive and virtual environments in the education of architectural design students. He holds an undergraduate professional degree in Architecture and Architectural Engineering from Nihon University, Japan and a Masters degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield, Michigan.
His research has covered various areas including architectural design, design/build architecture, integration of computer technology into design studio education, new digital media, theory of representation, and philosophy of technology. His research and creative activity resulted in numerous papers and presentations, and has been published in Kindai Kenchiku, Werk, Bauen + Whohnen, Parametro, International Journal of Architectural Computing and Journal of Information Technology in Construction. Most recently, he co-authored Energy Accounts: Architectural Representations of Energy, Climate, and the Futureby Routledge. He is currently working on a book, “Ginza Skincare: Architectural Envelope Performances.”
